Women feature highly at the London Film Festival.

Rachel Weisz co-stars alongside Ralph Fiennes in Fernando Meirelles adaptation of Le Carre's thriller, The Constant Gardner. Meirelles originally shot to international fame with the heart renching City of God.

Gwyneth Paltrow adds that certain something to Proof, a John Madden film about mathematical genii.

Sandra Hebron, the festival artistic director said that London has earned a reputation for boosting film profiles for industry insiders as well as discerning filmgoers.

The London Film Festival is certainly where people want to be. Film festivals are viewed as sexy, desirable events. There is also the award season coming up.

We have had BAFTA screenings before the film festival. It applies to the BAFTAs and the Academy Awards. London is a great strategic location.

London is viewed as a platform to promote films in the European markets.
