Can Correct Diet Prevent Breast Cancer

Tue, 16 May 2006

Breast cancer puts fear into women internationally, with the number of women in Britain getting cancer rated very high. Nearly a tenth of women is likely to get the disease, with many dying from it.

Survival rates are getting better, however, scientists are still developing drugs to prolong life. So why are British women so prone to the disease? Only 5% of women who get breast cancer have a hereditary link to the disease.

The most cancer preventative vegetables are cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower. A woman's lifestyle is critical too 90% of cases. By eating the right foods you can greatly reduce the risk of developing the disease.

Nutrition therefore plays a great part in breast cancer reduction, irregardless of age.

Losing weight can also greatly reduce the risk of breast cancer. Heavier women carry higher levels of cancer promoting hormones, like insulin and oestrogen, in their bodies. Such hormones are more likely to be used by breast cells to stimulate cancer growth.
