Morning After Pills Being Handed Out

Thu, 14 Dec 2006

Women as well as young girls are offered 'morning after' pills at £10 per dose by Britain's main abortion provider.

The charity BPAS states that keeping such pills at home will ensure fewer women get pregnant after unprotected sex. Studies nonetheless do not illustrate that such supplies reduce the abortion rate.

It also stated that it would be ready to sell pills to schoolgirls should they be under the age of consent. This sparked outrage as critics stated that this would encourage women to utilise the powerful drug as contraception without considering the consequences.

They are also concernes about such powerful pills being kept in bathroom cabinets where children can get them.

Pharmacists are allowed to sell the pill only to women who have already undergone the risk of pregnancy, at £26 a shot. GPs and family planning doctors are able to give prescriptions to patients in advance.
