Eating lots of green leafy vegetables like spinach, kale and collard greens can reduce the risk of skin cancer so says a new study .
Green vegetables contain numerous vitamins and minerals, as well as folic acid and fibre and of course are incredibly good for your health .
The results of a study of 1,000 adults in Australia over 11 years has been published in the International Journal of Cancer .
After adjustments for certain factors, the researchers discovered that upping green leafy vegetable intake was related to a 41% cut in the risk of skin cancer.
Dark green leafy vegetables contain folic acid, which has a key role in DNA synthesis and repair. So that old adage "eat your greens up" is not just a cliche. It is good, sound, healthy advice .
