Emotional Engagement Most Important for Married Women

Fri, 10 Mar 2006

Emotional engagement as opposes to loads of money plays the most role in women's marital happiness, so say American researchers.

Recent research by Steven L. Nock and W. Bradford Wilcox from the University of Virginia studied 5,000 plus couples. Wives are most concerned about how understanding and affectionate their husbands are, as well as the amount of quality time spent with their husbands.

The findings also show that women whose husbands bring home the greater income, who work at home, or share a strong commitment towards a lifelong marriage - report highest levels of marital bliss.

Egality also matters for married women. Women who state that housework division is fair are more content in their marriages than those who consider that their husbands are not doing their fair share.
