Sizzling Weather at Last

Thu, 04 May 2006

We are going to be basking in the glorious sunshine today as we enjoy the hottest day so far this year so far.

Thermometers are predicted to hit 26C (79F) in the South East as the summer eventually arrives here.

Although the South East can relish the good weather, the South West, Wales, Western Scotland and Northern Ireland are set to have thunderstorms and showers.

And we have started shopping for summer goods big time. Barbecues and barbecue accessories are going fast.

This weather is apparently known as a 'Spanish plume', a whoosh of extremely warm air coming from Spain, into France and then into southern England.

Temperatures across the three countries are forecast well into the the 70s.
