Four Million Women Suffer from Migraines

Mon, 08 Sep 2008

Painkillers are not working for millions of women, recent research shows.

4m women have migraines on a regular basis. Migraines are so persistently painful that a third of women regularly take painkillers to try and medicate the situation.

50 women migraine sufferers, aged between 20 and 45 years old, were asked about their experiences over a period of a month.

Tension and stress trigger two-thirds of the migraines. 42% of the migraines were set off by hormonal changes linked to periods, with fatigue causing 28% of them. In addition, specific foods and drinks (18%), as well as bright lighting (10%) caused further migraines.

The University Hospital Zvezdara's, Clinic of Neurology, in Belgrade discovered that patients who had more than nine hours sleep had more frequent migraine attacks than those who slept fewer hours.

A further research study highlighted that 9 out of 10 women stated that their migraines were helped by applying the 4head QuickStrip, a gel strip with an active ingredient from the peppermint plant which is placed on to the neck or forehead.

65% of sufferers got relief after five minutes of application, with a third stating that it worked in a minute.

It is astonishing thinking of so many women suffering on a daily basis.

4head QuickStrip is a safe way of treating migraines, and can be taken instead of, or with painkillers.

It is so easy to use and has few risk of side effects, thus making it a perfect choice for many migraine sufferers.
