England's lively and cultural capital is easily accessible
from all parts of the country with most of the country's
major train lines convening at London's major stations. London
also has three major airports; Luton, Gatwick and most importantly
Heathrow located around its proximity, for international
travellers. Travel within London is simplified greatly due
to the famous Underground, wherever you are your never far
from a "tube"!
London provides attractions for all ages. Particular family
favourites include the Natural History Museum, Science Museum,
Madame Tussuad's Waxworks and London Zoo. Also there's
the London Aquarium, London Dungeon or take the family on
the London Eye; the world's tallest observation wheel, on
a clear day you can see 25miles!
For women fascinated with art, London has some of the best
art galleries in the world from classical
galleries; Tate Britain, National
Portrait Gallery and V&A museum
to the cutting edge of contemporary
art; Tate Modern and the Saatchi
Gallery.
London possesses many historical sites; those of particular
interest include Tower of London, the Cutty Sark, Houses
of Parliament & Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge
and St Paul's Cathedral. London is a city full of history
and can be a very cultural trip if you are that way inclined.
Importantly London is a great city for women to shop! Take
on the masses of Oxford Street to
explore the flagship stores of almost
every British high street fashion
store, although busy it is worth
it! For upmarket shopping try Selfridges
or go to Knightsbridge for Harvey
Nichols or the famous Harrods. Try
the boutiques of Bond Street or get
the latest women's fashion tip in
the many boutiques and flagship stores
in Covent Garden. For markets London
has some great offerings namely the
cool Portobello, Brick Lane and Camden
markets.
After all the sightseeing and shopping, women are going
to need sustenance! London offers some
of the best dining experiences in
the world and a massive range of
cuisines from all over the world.
For extravagant dining experiences
try one of Gordon Ramsay's three
starred restaurants or Jamie Oliver's
highly acclaimed Fifteen. Or for
a more conservative budget there
are thousands of superb small restaurants,
notably the all-you-can-eat buffets
in Chinatown.
London also offers a myriad of bars and clubs from old-time
public houses to posh champagne bars and super-cool and trendy,
modern wine bars. For the clubbing types London's nightlife
provides club nights for all music genres. Some of the more
famous clubs include Fabric, Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Cargo,
Electric Ballroom, The Worlds End and many more.
However a trip to London cannot be complete without a visit
to the West End to take in one of the many, famous musicals.
Choose from long-runners such as Les Miserables, Chicago,
Phantom of the Opera or Mamma Mia. Or try a more intimate,
small production play; the choice is massive!
As far as accommodation is concerned London
isn't short of that either. From
the super posh five star hotels such
as The Ritz, The Savoy, The Dorchester
and The Four Seasons, where women
can be pampered till their hearts'
content, to well priced budget hotels
situated in and around the city centre.
